Packing For Lunacon

I'm off to Lunacon tomorrow to flog the books and manifest my Vortex of Schmooze powers. I'll be reading an excerpt from Atlantis Cranks Need Not Apply at the Rapid Fire Reading with several fellow members of Broad Universe. Thanks are due Danielle Ackley-McPhail for getting in touch with the con committee at the last reasonable moment and getting the reading on the program, and for offering a little space on her merchanting table for books by us Broads. CDs of my Rugosa stories will be at her table, and that's not a bad place to look for me, if you're looking.

Thanks are also due tracyandrook, who's coming to help with the baby-wrangling. Dan and I have tried going to cons with Gareth in tow, and two adults per child is not enough to allow one of the adults to work the room and the other adult to have any fun at all. We're hoping three adults per child works better.

Here I am with a giant packing list of stuff we'll need to flog the book and other stuff we'll need to keep Gareth fed, clean, warm, and amused. I need to spend a couple of hours running around my house like a madwoman, gathering objects without waking the boy, and then bustling them out to the car tonight, because loading a car while on baby duty is a five-handed job, and even with Tracy's help we'll only have four available hands. All Gareth's naps tomorrow will happen in the car at times when I'm driving, which means No Naps for Mommy. I have to get to bed early.

So naturally my television picks tonight to offer me an Ani DiFranco concert.

I'm not a fool for television, but oh, I am a fool for Ani. Have been for fifteen years. I first heard her when she traveled to gigs by Greyhound bus for a hundred bucks, a cup of coffee, and a chance to sell her songs on cassette tapes she hauled around in a secondhand camera box.

Oh, hey. That's not so far ahead of where I am now. When I started writing this post, I actually hadn't put that together yet. All right then.
