Geek Developmental Milestones
Apr. 13th, 2011 10:00 pmMy three-year-old has taken to brandishing unlikely kitchen implements as supervillain weapons. His usual favorite is the tea infuser, but this evening, he held the apple corer aloft and shouted, "Forward, robots, forward! Bwahahahahaha!"
Meanwhile, my seven-month-old has moved from freeform babbling to deliberate attempts to imitate our words, especially short ones that are heavy on the vowels. I'm pretty sure he has no idea what hi, wow, and Iowa mean. Come to think of it, I myself have to take it on faith that Iowa exists, so do I really know what Iowa means? I may be accidentally raising a Midwesterner, especially now that we've started singing Dar Williams's Iowa to him.
