I figured out how to fix the astrological problem in the Ria story. Eventually I found a very efficient way to do it--efficient in terms of preserving what worked in the story as written. The process of finding that efficient fix, however, required that I get neck-deep in the ephemeris and wallow around diagramming possible rearrangements of the plot to see if any new structures worked better than what I had. Was that efficient? Probably not, but at least I'm more confident that large swaths of the manuscript are sound.
Almost done, almost done. Every effing weekend I tell Dan how stunned I will be if it's not finished by Monday, and then every Monday I am stunned.
It's like the dissertation: there's no way of knowing when it will be over until after it ends.

Oh -- wait -- yay on fixing the problem! ;)
