Working conditions: Lost entire afternoon longhand shift to staring blankly around B&N in post-percocet daze, though the label told me it should have been 8 hours' worth of totally worn off (or I wouldn't have dared drive myself there). Therefore not taking any more of that. Composed entire day's output directly into laptop after spouse and houseguests went to bed.

Notable incidents: Stisele and Gallirrim are lying around in his tent telling each other stories in the dark. I didn't know his stories until I wrote them. I like him better and better every time he talks.

In other news, I'm not in pain. It's been 24 hours since the last painkiller, and I'm just plain not in pain. On the one hand, yay! On the other hand, I could have had this same outcome five months ago if my doctors hadn't been wusses and alarmists. Clear your calendar for the week, they said. Hurts like a motherfucker, they said. Steroid injections are a medieval torture method, they said. Bah. I can't figure out what the big deal is, unless the big deal is that I feel better today than I have since about this time last year.
