Our friend Sam hosts a weekly movie night. Lately he's on a big Bollywood kick. Tonight, we watched the second half of Lagaan, a heartwarming sports musical about cricket and land taxes. I am not making this up.
My favorite moment in the film is when the village fortuneteller takes his turn at the...pitching mound? Whatever the cricket equivalent of the pitching mound is, anyway. And he shouts imprecations at the evil British Raj guys who will get to drive the virtuous villagers off their land if the game goes the wrong way. Go back where you came from, you tea-drinking boot wearers!
It's such an odd sentence, and it lent itself so well to shouting, I want to give it a try. Alas, my favorite tea-drinking boot wearer has already gone home to Britain.
