And now for the stirring conclusion of my two-part Black Gate post about my go-to anthology of fantasy and science fiction short stories. You can find last week's half of the post about Jane Yolen and Patrick Nielsen Hayden's The Year's Best Science Fiction and Fantasy for Teens over here.

Being one of the weekly regulars at a large blog is really different from doing my own little thing over here. If I start to get the blogging itch and it's been too long, here I can just post the latest awesome thing my kids are doing. Conrad, for instance, sometimes yells "Flying Conrad!" and zooms all over the house with his arms over his head. Gareth can climb a good twenty feet up into any suitable tree--white fir has the least maternal-anxiety-inducing growth habit. Over at Black Gate, I have to sort of stretch and do warm-ups for a while, sing a few scales while drinking hot lemon tea to loosen my vocal cords, before I begin to write.

At some point, I need to put together a list of Bloggable Stuff for that Wednesday gig, so I won't ever sit down on a Tuesday night with no clue what to say. Hey, you're a thoughtful reader. Any suggestions?
