Murphy's Law Meets Polar Vortex
Jan. 9th, 2014 02:27 amThe pipes froze in the house I'm trying to sell. Not burst, not yet, but I get the joy of paying for a plumber to stay in my old place in NJ overnight while he makes controlled cuts and patches in frozen pipes to get the ice out before things rupture. Thank goodness for the realtor and her handyman who went in to make last-minute repairs, or we wouldn't have known the furnace had gone out until things got Really Bad. We'd been congratulating ourselves on the precautions we'd taken.
Our closing was scheduled for Friday. We've been trying to sell the old place since May. It's possible we'll get through this without damage to the century-old woodwork and plaster. Possible. I really don't know how this is going to play out.
