I did enjoy the essay. It's amazing what you learn as you work your way through fiction. Right now I'm struggling with one from outline to first draft. I know there will be layering in of more emotion, mood and tone balancing, the sharpening of the descriptions, but now the fight to get it to paper in story form to begin the sculpting of it. I don't think I've ever gotten over the freshman frustration of the first draft isn't nearly as good as the copy I feel in my head. I think I've had that feeling since the beginning of time.
