First Fiction Sale!
Jun. 26th, 2007 11:21 amJohn O'Neill, editor of Black Gate, after a lengthy online correspondence and three drafts, has offered to buy "The War of the Wheat Berry Year," my first Stisele story. All his revision requests were astute and persuasive, and the story is far stronger now than it was when I sent it to him. After years of getting poetry accepted into the sort of literary magazines that make a professor tenurable, and getting at best two contributor's copies for compensation, it's going to be a bit of a shock to receive an actual check. I am Very Pleased.

Date: 2007-06-28 12:37 am (UTC)Any chance that your reunion is this weekend, June 30/July 1? Because the first Sat. party is next weekend, July 7.
Just forlornly hoping that we might get to see you... should be able to return season 2 of Deadwood too, what an awesome show.

Date: 2007-06-28 02:34 am (UTC)You survived the first two seasons of Deadwood? I wasn't sure I would, and yet I'm avidly anticipating season 3 on DVD.
Glad we'll get to catch up with you two before the grand one-way road trip.

Date: 2007-06-28 05:07 pm (UTC)Excellent!
Shame that B&J won't be able to make it. (We'll be seeing them this weekend tho'.) You should remember to encourage them to attend 1st Saturdays after we're gone! J enjoyed his one visit.
yay for all winning...
Date: 2007-06-30 01:47 am (UTC)That is exactly how I feel. I think I like the show better now that the season is over and I don't have to dread what I might see tomorrow night. (Is that mentally healthy??)
While watching season 2 I ruled that we had to watch an episode of Red Dwarf as a chaser after each Deadwood episode.
