Everybody should have one of these, especially if you have to spend any significant amount of time in waiting rooms or airports. I got a lot of use out of mine at prenatal appointments, back when I had them at a practice that kept two televisions tuned to different programs in their waiting room.

I've been surreptitious with my TV-B-Gone, and sometimes a little snarky about how I've deployed it, but never have I done anything with it as juvenile, or as brilliant, as this.

Great, now Mom wants one for the diner she eats at every morning. She would have *so* much fun with that. :)

T loved his - it was especially handy at the YMCA. The British ones work on a different frequency, but as tv in public places is almost entirely unknown round here outside of the pubs we don't frequent, he hasn't missed it. He's kept his US one for when we visit. Between you and him, I predict Fun ;)

I must have one of these. I could make my husband's head explode during football playoff season.

I tried to buy one at Yule for [livejournal.com profile] ash57005, as I told him about it and he's absolutely DYING to have one. He loathes TVs with a passion and would do practically anything to shut off the constant stream of garbage in random public places.

However, they will not ship USPS to Canada........ and courier charges are about $20-30. For a $16 gadget!!

I don't suppose any of you Americans might be willing to act as a mail-forwarding service?

I could do that. I have a major karmic debt to the universe in that area. [livejournal.com profile] vgnwtch forwarded me the fabulous labor-and-delivery TENS unit that the FDA wouldn't allow to be shipped direct. Do you have my contact info? I half remember that maybe last year we exchanged addresses, but maybe I'm wrong.

You're quite correct! I just (re-) found it.

I may be thinking of ordering up the TV-B-Gone for his birthday in April..... will let you know.

I think I gave you my contact info too, did I not?

Well, at any place where you spend time and there's a TV. Like having to watch soap operas waiting for the car to be repaired. Although I did see one of the funniest things I've seen during one of those sessions. The TV was tuned to Live! With Regis and Kelley! It was December and they were doing a Christmas party show. And I swear that by half way through, Kelley was utterly smashed! At like 10 in the morning, a wonderful example to set for the kids...

these are great fun!
culture jammer group in NYC created a zombie crawl - we went through the streets as TV zombies, slavered all over tv's on in public until one of us surreptitiously shut it off, then we had a group hissy-fit meltdown, and staggered off to find another TV
