Anyhow, I'm glad it's there, because now I know what time Ria has to wake up on June 20th, 2004, to beat the sunrise. I also know her ZIP code, which almost makes me feel like a stalker, except for the part about her being a figment of my imagination. I haven't felt this much like an intruder in the life of a person I was writing about since my high school project on Coleridge.

Date: 2008-12-06 04:53 am (UTC)It's cool that you made friends with your dissertation subject. I felt like Charles Peirce and I had more of an affectionately antagonistic relationship. He was not the nicest guy, but I suffered along with him a lot. He was constantly trying to explain brilliantly original ideas with communication skills that were not exactly world-class. He would write something very dense, and then explain it with a different, but equally difficult passage. He is awkward to work with, but you can't help feeling for him as he struggles.
