In this corner, the cat: suddenly feverish, incontinent, and vomiting.

In the other corner, the toddler: obsessed with potty training, and possessed of just enough general clue to be worried about the beloved kitty whose tail he can't resist pulling.

Well, that was a day.

Everyone's okay now. Even the vet is unscathed. I am, however, behind on the promised round of proofreading for slackerstalker's fabulous translations of Russian anthropology articles on the oral epic storytelling customs of nomadic Kazakh tribes. The cat threw up on my homework.

That was, indeed a day...a story masterfully told in two sentences, and which I really hope ended with a bar of chocolate, or a bowl of ice cream, or the adult beverage of your choice, if not all three, as an inadequate reward for household Armageddon avoided.

I think oral epic storytelling is fascinating and hope you are enjoying the proofing, now that the cat barf has been cleaned up off the homework...

Nearly all of my days end with two small squares of really dark chocolate. So many available rationalizations for chocolate! Sick cat? The Schleck brothers triumph in the Alps stage of the Tour de France? Good writing day? Bad writing day? Chocolate!
