This is a hard year for charities, for the same reason it's a hard year for all of us, even some of the lucky ones among us. Dan and I have hesitated to make our usual annual plug for the MS Society because so many people we know are really feeling the economic downturn, and we've had to cut way back on our own charitable giving habits.

That said, Multiple Sclerosis is a really awful illness, and the MS Society is doing some really important work to make life better for the people who struggle with it. If you'd like to support MS research and/or Dan, please visit his participant page over at the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.

Thanks, everybody!

I'd offer some time to get together, but we're north of Boston, so not toward the Cape, and our weekend is already full (partially for the Winslowshire Faire http://www.winslowshire.com/

We would like to make a donation, but we can't do it until around October -- we're assuming Dan can figure out how to send a late donation, but let me know if that isn't true. Our niece has MS and we would definitely like to support the event and Dan!

A picked out an audiobook for our road trip that was a book recommended to her - A House Called Awful End by Philip Ardagh. I don't know if the written version will work as well, but something about listening to the book on CD made me think of you - the wry humor, the ridiculous plot that made perfect sense, the super intelligent narration, I don't know what but you must listen to this audiobook!

Love you!

Whenever is good. When he started making this ride an annual tradition, it was just a way to keep in touch with his college friends (one of them has a brother with MS), but the cause has become important to us for its own sake over time. Well-wishes to your niece!

Sounds like fun. I'm not familiar with that author, but I'm always on the lookout for stuff my younger tutoring students might like. I'll have to check it out.

Missed you and your family at FSG!

Here's another suggestion - we are reading aloud as a family a book called Dark Hills Divide. It is a series about the Land of Elyon that is a great fantasy series for kids. We're all enjoying it and I'm having a hard time not skipping ahead on the reading!
