The year Gareth was born, I read a huge number of dubious books of pop neuroscience, and one popular book about real neuroscience. It seemed the brain study folks had found differences between boy brains and girl brains, and I was still living in a 1970s bubble of androgynous-ideal feminism. It turns out the newer bubble was not necessarily much closer to reality, but hey, changing up my mental model of the universe every few years does everyone good. Here are some thoughts and stories about how that time affected my teaching.

I'm new to this WordPress thing, but it seems to be telling me that I need to re-register for each different WP site I want to leave a comment on. Can that be right? It's not like LJ where you can comment on anyone's entry as long as you are logged into your own LJ account?

I don't know what the case ought to be, but that's been my experience, too.

I might have to muster the creativity & patience to try a ball-kicking type activity w/A. She is notoriously slow at crafting ideas for her writing and in general struggles with it. Which is frustrating to me, in part, because in so many other ways she is an imaginative and prolific storyteller. It's the writing it down part that stifles her mind. Hmmmm...

Thanks for sharing.
