Rugosa Coven Giveaway on GoodReads
Dec. 31st, 2013 04:11 amMy publisher is giving away a free copy of Tales from Rugosa Coven on GoodReads. You can enter to win it here. If you’ve already got your copy, you can spread the word. Other things you can do there, if you feel so moved: write a review, give the book some stars, start a book discussion, and literally, more things than I can name. Signal boost is always appreciated!
I’ve always meant to explore GoodReads more — I first joined it right around when my older kid was born, when computer time suddenly became much scarcer. This seems like as good a time as any. Do you have favorite things to do there?

Date: 2013-12-31 05:58 pm (UTC)Mostly I use GoodReads as a way to keep track of what I've read. While LibraryThing keeps track of what I own, I've been borrowing library books enough lately to need to keep track of things I've borrowed and read. (I'm still trying to keep track of things I have stored on my Kindle. Now that I think of it I can probably create a bookshelf for that on GoodReads, too.)
It's also fun for keeping up with what friends of mine are reading -- I've found a few now-loved books that way, too.
A friend of mine who's an author -- and with whom I've gotten horribly out of touch -- uses GoodReads as a way of publishing blog posts. He uses his blog in multiple ways -- to talk about what's he doing, to talk about what he's reading (we both used to work at Murder Ink, so I'm glad he has a vehicle for book reviews again) and to occasionally talk about things that are going on in the publishing industry. GoodReads sends me email every time Tom posts something to his blog, which means that I have at least a shot at keeping up with him.

Date: 2014-01-03 06:09 am (UTC)It looks like 143 people have requested my book in the giveaway, and one of my 3 fans is somebody I'm pretty sure I don't know at all, even online. I think that counts as going well, but I'm not really sure what going well looks like, or looks like for small press titles. I'm learning new things about my job every day, and some of those things even turn out later to be right.
