The only pipe to burst was one that had already been shut off months ago and was mostly empty, the spigot for the garden hose. The rest of the frozen pipes, the plumber was able to cut, empty of ice, patch, and warm up slowly. Our buyers need to send their inspector or plumber or whatever in to confirm that everything's shipshape again, so the closing date is on the ever-shifting horizon. But hey, we still have buyers for our still-healthy old house. We dodged a bullet.

Thanks for your well-wishes, everyone. Waiting in suspense while that played out was No Fun.

My next post, however, will be Fun. It's writing itself in my head at this very moment.

If I were a homebuyer, I would be very glad this happened. This was the "acid test" for your house. Your house is not proven to be bombproof, but this is a good statement of its reliability. "If x happens, you will experience problems no greater than y". Like you said, still healthy.
I don't mean to be Pollyanna here, just glad for you.
