Author Chat Will Run Until Midnight

We had a lively first round that seems to be in a tacit dinner break at the moment. If you haven’t dropped by yet, you’re still very welcome. The party is in the comments after the interview on this page.

I missed the talk, but read the page. Two comments in particular:
Jonathan Lethem’s handling of a hero with Tourette’s syndrome in the noir mystery Motherless Brooklyn set the bar I strove to reach in the middle novella of Tales from Rugosa Coven, “And Ria’s from Virgo.”
I too appreciated Jonathan Lethem's *Motherless Brooklyn* -- we read that for my book club. I hadn't thought of it when I read "And Ria's from Virgo" but now I will think about the two together.

When Alexander the Great set out to conquer Persia, he had definitely never seen a map of the Persian Empire. He figured he’d just keep his army to the roads, and eventually he’d take every city of importance. The most surprising part is, it worked.
I never knew that! And although not a big Alexanderphile, I have read some historical fiction around that time frame (and later-on reflections).
