Incommunicado for the Remaining Holidays

I'm off to Rockville for Xmas and Rochester for New Year's. Any of you who are likely to need to reach me in a pinch already know the drill: my cell phone's the best bet; the house's land line is second best, since I'll be checking voicemail from the road every few days; email and lj are iffy at best. We'll be getting home late late late on the 1st, so any news you post on lj will be entirely outside my ken. No possibility of catching up on all the stuff I miss.

Wow, can you tell I was in a hurry to get packed when I posted that? "I'm incommunicado, so here's how to reach me." Oh, the imprecision! My poor word choice has been eating at me all day, so I've stolen time from the family to fix it.

I don't know many details yet about when I'll be free, but there should at least be time to get together for coffee before I head north to the land of lake-effect snow. Dan and I would love to see you, if we can make it work with the various other not-yet-scheduled obligations. We're still coordinating with my parents, Dan's parents, Dan's aunts and uncles and cousins, and our respective sisters who are out of state for Xmas but coming home Real Soon. Just to top it off, the annual convention of the Modern Language Association is in DC this year, so my old grad school friends--some of whom I haven't seen in 3 years--will all be in Woodley Park starting tomorrow. Whew! Good thing I'm an extravert. A week of vacation in the old home town is sort of like an extreme sports excursion, only with less risk of permanent skeletal damage.

I noticed your word choice but decided that it was deliberate irony.

It sounds like you have a LOT on your plate, I have very little so can be as flexible as needed. If however, it is too much, I suppose I can live w/o seeing you for a few weeks more.
