How Things Are Going

1.
Analgesic withdrawal headache. Ow.
2.
I wasn't up for cooking, but I was up for reading to Dan in the kitchen while he made soup. Kelly Link's short story "The Faery Handbag" goes well with swiss chard. I have the best spouse in the whole world.
3.
jeneralist reassured me about the headache by saying, "After all these days and hours, if it were a tylenol overdose, you'd already be dead, dead, dead." Oh. In that case, I can handle whatever this is.
4.
As it turns out, I can handle whatever this is by drinking a cup of black tea very, very slowly and turning all the lights way down. If you hear someone humming "Dancing in the Dark," it's me.
5.
Tomorrow, the lab results come in. When I wished for something to take my mind off the suspense of waiting to hear back from the Shiny Young Agent about the big book, more suspense wasn't what I had in mind. The universe has a sense of humor. Beautiful universe. Glad to be in it.
