I had no idea I'd seen so many of the states, or so little of the rest of the world. All those European countries are so small. Thirteen seems like a lot of countries, until the map shows me how much I've missed.

Also, I get to find out how traumatic the last presidential election was for me. The sight of all those civilized eastern and coastal states lit up in red gave me a terrible stress response. I may not have been to a bunch of the inland states, but hey, I've visited most of the electoral college.

Looking fervently forward to them, though there probably won't be much electoral drama here in Jersey. We're pretty solidly blue. Even our notable Republicans are horrified by the Bush administration these days.

I gave a paper on Neo-Pagan liturgical poetry at the Parliament of the World's Religions in Cape Town in 1999. My husband and I spent 21 days in South Africa--11 in Cape Town for the Parliament, and the rest traveling around Blyde River and Kruger. Such a beautiful country. I'd love to go back some day.
