Bob is complete in working draft. Parts of this novella are very, very good.

I'm gravely dissatisfied with a dozen other parts that I already know about, and will probably be gravely dissatisfied with plenty more when I next read it through. The closing sentence is wrong. The working title is misleading in a way that cannot be permitted to stand. The diction is excessively lyrical for the last fifteen or twenty pages and desperately needs to be toned down to fit with the rest of the story. I'm sure the legal details are in need of serious help.

That's fine. It's a first draft. Its job is to exist. Anything else it does in addition to existing is gravy.

Outside, the birds are singing about sunrise. Maybe I should sleep soon.

What on earth possessed you to take up making lacework socks? And why do you need an excuse to stop?

I'm hoping to have the Rugosa Coven novella in good enough condition to ship it around to beta readers on Friday. Right now, I'm giving the partial I'm about to mail out to an agent one last pass, but Thursday I'll be able to go over the novella to catch egregious errors, and to rip out the last two or three pages and finish the story right. Send me your new address by Friday morning, and you can be the proud owner of a draft in hard copy.

Why do I need to stop? My roomate walked into the living room and found me screaming "GOD DAMN IT COOKIE, YOUR PATTERN IS LYING!" and throwing my stash yarn at the wall. She's going to stop cooking for me unless I figure out a less stressful hobby; I'm taking a break from Adventure Knitting. (Don't worry, I'll probably be back and have them finished by thanksgiving)
