A lot of new people--all friends, I think, of the late George Marvil--have friended this journal in the past week. I don't recognize all the names, but welcome. If you feel inclined to introduce yourself, I'd love a chance to figure out who's who.

So that newcomers to my journal who have followed links here to see the Grail episodes I wrote for George can read the story from beginning to end, rather than in standard livejournal reverse chronological order, I'm linking to the parts here.

The Fisher King

How the Grail Came to the Fisher King

Sir Percival and the Four Queens

Not Your Father's Round Table

The Queen's Champion Arrives at Sloan-Kettering

The Arming of the Hero

Grail-O-Matic

Knights of the Cafeteria Table

To Avalon

Thank you!

Thank you for being there for G, C, L, and the whole TurtleHill clan. It is both an honor and a blessing to meet you, and your wonderful talents.

I am a 1* BlueStar Initiate, from the Minneapolis, Minnesota contingent. Blessed to meet you. I am not nearly as eloquent as you, but you are welcome to friend me and read my posts, if you choose.

Greetings and merry meet (soon). My first real name is Larissa, also lately dubbed Rissa by my boyfriend, [livejournal.com profile] oakleaves.

Thank you for your creativity in this sad time. Your saga about Geo and the Knights of Camelot is simply wonderful. [livejournal.com profile] oakleaves was reading an instalment of it aloud and got a bit choked up around the last few lines... I wish I had had a chance to meet George in person as he sounds like a most extraordinary soul who will be/is being very sorely missed indeed.

Blessed be.

Geo was...

Well, now I know I'm not yet able to begin sentences that way.

His greatness of soul and vision is evident in the strength of the community he belonged to, and the ways it grew and prospered because of his labors.

I look forward to meeting you, and it's been too long since I last saw [livejournal.com profile] oakleaves. Of course, we all wish for happier circumstances, but those will come.

How can we contact each other off of LJ? I mean, there are things we need to discuss, like directions to your house, and feast contributions...

Under the circumstances, more booze might be in order.

A meat main dish would be cool, if you feel ambitious. We figured on two meat main dishes, but now we have no idea how many guests will show up.

Oh my goodness!

::jumps around with glee::

It's been way too long.

I'd seen your handle in [livejournal.com profile] sabrinamari's comment threads, but didn't realize you were you. How are you?

Yes it's me!

I am doing wonderfully! I moved to NH and we just bought a beautiful house on 5 acres in Washington NH. I have 3 children now. Freyjadis will be 6 in a couple of weeks, Tiarnan is 4 and Signy is 8 months old.
How are you?

When I last saw Freyjadis, I think she was just barely toddling, and Tiarnan was a newborn. Wow.

So, in the past four years, I finished my doctorate, got a full-time non-tenure track teaching gig at the Rutgers Writing Program, got the ax when the university budget crashed and everyone on the faculty who had health insurance but wasn't on the tenure track got the lay-off letter. I looked at the lay-off letter and said to myself, "Oh, shit! The mortgage!" and "This will be the best thing that ever happened to me." I was really not grooving on academia, so I fled, rather than trying to get back in. These days, I have a prosperous little private tutoring practice, and I write every day. I'm on my second novel now, and I've written a few short pieces I'm pretty happy with. Nothing has sold yet, but something will eventually. Dan and I are still happily settled in South River. Infertility sucks, but over the past four years, it's really the only thing that has sucked in our daily lives. I figure, in context, we're doing pretty well.

Can we hope to see you at FSG?

I've friended you too, because I want to see what you're up to, in life and in words.

Thanks for the chronological list of the short shorts, which made me laugh and cry. Now I wish I'd given you a bigger hug at the service.

Lee

I've been meaning since FSG to friend you and [livejournal.com profile] louiseroho, and then getting distracted for no good reason.

We'll just have to have an extra good hug next time we're in the same place.

What a wonderful tribute to George and a great modern twist to the old legends. I think most anyone who has done time with a loved one in the ICU can appreciate the surrealness of the experience and the humor you use to counter it.

Thank you. I think this story is some of my best work. I guess we'll find out whether the editors at Pangaia think it's Pagan enough.
